Introduction
Since the birth of this universe conflicts,
disputes and wars have made the world much
more exhilarating, though in the negative
sense. The struggle for power and dominance
has resulted in the form of millions of
innocent people lying dead with no fault
of their own. Decapitating people's lives
for the cause of mass manipulation and political
supremacy is the cruelest form of injustice
any form of life can ever witness. The sinister
and beasts of any culture reside among us
wearing a transparent mask of sincerity
and faithfulness but the history of politics
which has existed for centuries represents
a better truth. Are they really sincere?
The Middle East Conflict
The conflict that captured
the roots of politics about half a century
ago and has never been solved is of Middle
East. Capitalists and dominant corporates
(Fred Halliday, 1996) have been ruling over
Middle East for years and used this issue
for their own benefit. The concept of gathering
small colonies and states by the Western
giants such as Britain, Germany and France
resulted into several disputes of which
World War I & II are the most popular.
After World War II Jews started settling
in Palestine and soon the newly born United
Nations decided to divide Palestine into
two individual states and internationalize
Jerusalem. Palestinians and other Arab countries
were against this step and attacked Israel
but were defeated by the Israeli army. Soon
enough thousands of Palestinians were made
refugees and were forced to leave Palestine.
After that Israel and Arab countries such
as Iraq and Egypt battled to gain supremacy
over the region but Israel always has the
upper hand.
On the Palestinian behalf the US support
to Israel is the basic problem. The continuous
support of US in the form of arms and ammunition
is unsettling the Palestinians and making
it hard for them to fight the Israeli army.
This continuous war has given birth to new
term terrorism and it is yet to be defined
internationally. War itself is the biggest
form of terrorism, most people would rather
deny this fact but still innocent people
die because of this barbarian act. The peace
process is hardly possible with all these
things going on simultaneously. More often
this issue of terrorism is linked with religion
blaming Islam as the religion of terror
which is very hard to digest because Islam
teaches peace and unity. To mix up religion
and politics is not the right perspective
rather it destroys the reputation of certain
religious values. As far as the suicide
bombers in the recent times are concerned,
they are a result of continuing assault
from Israeli army and it is not substantial
to call these suicide bombers as Islamic
militants. There is a difference between
Jihad and freedom fight, Palestinians are
fighting for their freedom instead of battling
over the name of "Allah". In a
very straight forward way religion has been
used as a tool for political goals set by
Western corporate to achieve necessary success
in Middle East.
The media has been playing
a vital role in circulating several view
points among the people but the problem
is that every media projects different truth
and nobody gets the real perspective of
the situation. BBC and CNN cover almost
the entire world and they have set their
monopoly in the news business and so almost
everyone speaks their language. The hidden
truth never reaches out to the Western public
which doesn't even know whats been happening
in the Middle East. The duty of news media
should be to provide the truth rather than
keeping substantial material hidden from
the people. That way the situation can be
more exemplified in front of the Western
public.
The growing population of
the Arab world is a haunting factor for
the Western corporate because with the increase
in the Arab population, all sorts of problems
will formulate in the minds of corporate
thinkers. According to Samuel P. Huntington,
with the increase in Muslim population,
Muslim thinkers and intellectual growth
will also increase which is a major threat
to Israel at this point. Although there
is a negative perspective to it, Islamic
fundamentalism will grow much more and may
grab a hold of the situation (Samuel P.
Huntington, 1997). The economy of the Arab
world will boost but the fact of the matter
is that all the Arab countries will have
to unite for this purpose. In the current
situation it is very rare to find unity
among the Arab countries maybe because of
the outside pressures and their inside differences.
Quite apart from the values and hopes which
the State of Israel enshrines - and the
past injuries which it redeems - it twists
reality to suggest that it is the democratic
tendency of Israel which has interjected
discord and dissension into the Near East.
Even by the coldest calculations,
the removal of Israel would not alter the
basic crisis in the area. For, if there
is any lesson which the melancholy events
of the last two years and more taught us,
it is that, though Arab states are generally
united in opposition to Israel, their political
unities do not rise above this negative
position. The basic rivalries within the
Arab world, the quarrels over boundaries,
the tensions involved in lifting their economies
from stagnation, the cross pressures of
nationalism, all of these factors would
still be there, even if there were no Israel
(John Kennedy, 1958)
This conflict will never
end until and unless both the parties try
to talk about the compromises they have
to make for the sake of peace to flourish.
